What to Expect

Your session is dependent upon what you need, and that which transpires is essentially between you and the frog. Discomfort is imperative when it comes to the process of growth and transformation, and so, you’ll most likely come to face some discomfort when sitting with Kambo.

Sananga

The session will begin with the optional, but recommended administration of sananga, which are eyedrops derived from an Amazonian shrub (Tabernaemontana Undulata) that are known to improve vision. This offering, though initially painful, is intended to assist the participant in entering a meditative, centered, and receptive state prior to receiving Kambo. Additionally it works to open the third eye to aid in connecting with the participants inner vision and intention for the practice.

Kambo

You will then be invited to relax on your mat and drink just under one liter of water while I prepare the Kambo, which will be applied to superficial burn points most commonly placed on the upper arm. The points are left on the open gates of the skin for a total of 20 minutes, with the first 5 minutes being accompanied by a warm flushing sensation and increased heart rate that many may describe as pleasant. The remaining 15 minutes is where the discomfort typically sets in with flu-like symptoms and nausea that I will describe more in depth at the time of your session. Aside from the physical purge that participants might experience as trauma finds its way out of the body, many will also go through a deeply mental/emotional purge while sitting with Kambo - essentially transforming the way they show up for everyday life in the present moment.

Rapé

The session will close with the optional, but recommended administration of rapé (pronounced hapeh), a finely sieved tobacco ash made from the dried leaves of the Nicotiana Rustica plant (mapacho) that is blown through the receivers nostrils with a tool called a tepi. There are many different blends of rapé that produce varying effects, but its main intent is quieting the mind, and bringing the recipient to a place of acute awareness and openness. This offering may assist the participant in regrounding after going through the Kambo “ordeal.”

* All offerings will be discussed in further detail in your pre-Kambo email, and again at the time of your session.
